About Sekela
kitchen
Sekela Kitchen brings the bold, soulful flavors of Ethiopian cuisine to the heart of Philadelphia. Opening inside Reading Terminal Market, our fast-casual concept is rooted in tradition, community, and the food we grew up loving.

Sekela was created to share Ethiopian culture through flavor—inviting both longtime fans and first-time guests to experience dishes that are vibrant, nourishing, and deeply personal. Every recipe reflects generations of home cooking, prepared with care and served with pride.
As a woman- and immigrant-owned business, Sekela Kitchen is about more than great food. We are building a business that creates opportunity—hiring locally, supporting women and immigrant workers, and investing back into the community that supports us.

Our menu focuses on authentic, affordable meals with plenty of plant-based options, prepared in a low-waste kitchen that prioritizes thoughtful sourcing and efficient use of ingredients. As we grow, our goal is to expand to multiple locations—creating jobs, sharing culture, and feeding people well along the way.
At Sekela Kitchen, every plate tells a story. We’re honored to share ours with you.
